The wedding venue hunt for the bride, a native of Detroit, and the groom a Norwegian who grew up in Africa, took them far and wide before settling on the magnificent Chateau de Saint-Privat-des-Pres in the French countryside. With friends and family coming from all over the world, this was the ideal place to bring people together for a four-day celebration. The spectacular yet understated Chateau proved to be the perfect venue creating an intimate yet ethereal atmosphere. The ceremony was held outside overlooking the lush green 18-acre garden, followed by a champagne cocktail by the pond. For the wedding dinner and reception, the guests moved into the rustic 500-year old stable which was lit up by hundreds of candles. Taking advantage of the rich culinary history of the region, the bride and groom had selected a traditional French meal with multiple courses, accompanied by plenty of first-class French wine. The night was made all the more magical by touching toasts, sweet serenades and dancing that lasted until sunrise. The entire celebration was an amazing blend of cultures and traditions, with guests coming from 5 continents who were united together through love and adventure. One of the guests said it best as he left: “I’m saying goodbye to old friends, and new ‘old’ friends”.
